4 Rue LEPIC – Paris

It’s 3:00 AM, and that’s when you need your courage the most – that moment when you feel alone and come face-to-face with what you’re going through; everything feels like an impossible mountain to climb. Your heart beats fast, anxiety builds, you pace the room endlessly, look out the window and see the streetlamps, some flickering – as if they too are struggling. Constant flashes of darkness and light, darkness and light.

Then it’s 4:00, then 5:00, and your gaze is lost in the void, until you hear the first birds chirping. The sun begins to rise, the street stirs with life, and the massive mountain begins to shrink. It’s 6:30 in the morning, you open the window to breathe in the fresh air, and right then, from a little patisserie down the street, the smell of coffee reaches you.

The mountain is gone. Because, like it or not, all around the world, coffee marks the start of a new day. The sun has risen, and that scent of coffee gives me the strength to move forward and begin my life again.

Here in Paris, everything is much clearer now. Merci Café.
