This work is born from the discovery of a constellation, that of the Sails, visible in a distant land, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in the Southern Hemisphere. It tells the story of an exotic and mysterious land through the eyes of two children who, for the first time, were about to embark on a journey as long as it was adventurous.
For the first time, in fact, Paolo and Tiziana were traveling to the unknown land where Aunt Marzia lived, the sister of their father Evelino and the daughter of their beloved grandparents: the “extravagant” Brazil. From the very beginning, the air around them was electrifying, and everything smelled of adventure. A real discovery that would change their lives forever. A true explorer's journey, just like the ones dreamed through the pages of the most fantastic books. They would take their first airplane and fly above a sky never before seen, touching the River of January, Rio de Janeiro, before veering towards Salvador de Bahia: the blackest city in Brazil, where more than anywhere else in this land, the centuries-old tradition is alive and deeply rooted, to the point that it captures the soul and creates an instant sense of longing... saudade. Upon arrival, the entire family of the aunt was waiting for them, and it was immediately a celebration of embraces.
The discovery finally begins in one of the most magical places on the planet, where nature merges with traditions and these with the rhythm of life. Everything flows at the natural speed of the sun, and everything quiets to the gentle rhythm of the phases of the moon and its pale glow. Paolo and Tiziana visit the colonial house of their aunt, surrounded by a large garden, where in the evening, a beautiful bonfire is lit, and together, in deep and cosmic intimacy, they listen to the bossa nova of Caetano Veloso, admiring their grandfather improvising a drum with steps and logs of wood to accompany these “new” syncopated rhythms, completely unknown to them. Suddenly, a world of new discoveries opens up, new flavors made from colorful exotic fruits, a sky so full of stars they had never seen before, and of course, new fragrances that luxuriantly cross every corner of their senses, until caressing their souls!
